Guala Closures Group is testing out its WAK-ky invention being unveiled on stand J40 at this year's LIWF. The number one spirits and safety closures company will also showcase its ultimate screwcap solution - the WAK® closure which combines a traditional look with the modern technology and benefits of a screwcap.Created specifically for high and mid-end 0.75cl wines with a standard BVS neck finish (the most common type on the market), the WAK® closure’s thread is not visible externally - as with other screwcaps on the market - because it is inserted into a long, specially-formed aluminium shell.“The Trade is now persuaded of the advantages of screwcaps,” comments Global Wine Co-ordinator Franco Cocchiara, who will be at the show, “but many Consumers remain to be convinced. The WAK® combines the appearance of a traditional closure with the benefits of a screwcap.”Guala Closures Group only branched into wine screwcaps in 2003 and this area already represents over 10% of the company’s business, with ten plants across eight countries dedicated to aluminium wine closure production. In addition to sophisticated filling lines that can easily run over 30,000 bottles an hour, Guala Closures also places great emphasis on R&D to offer clients a contemporary and innovative design facility.
