Europe’s largest recycler of polythene, bpi.recycled products has given the black bin bag a makeover to make it more environmentally friendly. The company, which has a long track record of taking waste polythene and giving it a new lease of life as garden furniture, planters, building films and other products, has just introduced The Green Sack – an altogether greener refuse sack product.

Their production from reprocessed rather than virgin material means that for every tonne of polythene used, a saving of 1.4 tonnes in CO2 is delivered. This use of recycled polythene also cuts other harmful emissions by at least one third, reduces water usage by 90%, diverts waste from landfill and saves 1.8 tonnes of crude oil – helping to conserve the world’s dwindling oil reserves.
Further environmental benefits are offered by virtue of the fact that Green Sacks are made from materials reprocessed entirely at bpi.recycled products’ UK sites rather than reprocessed abroad and imported back into the country. As such product miles are reduced and CO2emissions from associated transport activities are minimised.
