In February 2008, The British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association (BCMPA) launched CONTRACT PACK at the easyFairs NEC packaging shows. And for the first time last year CONTRACT PACK opened its doors to the London audience when easyFairs PACKAGING INNOVATIONS made its debut in the country’s capital.
Rodney Steel, Chief Executive at BCMPA, comments: “CONTRACT PACK is now firmly established as THE exhibition for the UK’s contract packing industry and has become the place for brand owners and manufacturers to meet potential outsourcing partners face to face.
He continues: “The momentum gained from 4 years as an integral part of easyFairs’ PACKAGING INNOVATIONS event at the NEC Birmingham every February has naturally led to this, the second staging of the CONTRACT PACK feature at the London show. The success of this section of the exhibition is largely down to the support from the British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association who host a hospitality stand at the show.”
Indeed, BCMPA can be found on stand D1, where they’ll be surrounded by a number of CONTRACT PACK exhibitors all of whom are accredited members of the BCMPA. Here’s a quick look at what they’ll be talking about...
The Widdowson Group (stand B8), a leading provider of logistics services based in Leicester, will be talking to visitors at the show about their contract packing operations which have recently been enhanced following a huge expansion of the business.
Clarke Robinson is the Operations Manager of the Widdowson Group, and explains the reason for continued investment in this important part of the group’s business: “Over the last few years we have worked hard to build on our reputation for product customisation and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our service.”
“The expansion of our premises has grown from the dedicated contract packaging area to a total of 65,000 sq ft increasing our capacity and flexibility. The new interior layout and working processes have been put in place to promote a smarter style of working; increasing both workflow and accuracy whilst eliminating process waste.”
Widdowson Group’s Contract Packing Division has increased turnover by 90% and recorded its best year to date. Considerable volumes of work resulted from business won at exhibitions, one of the key reasons why they are exhibiting at this year’s CONTRACT PACK feature at PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London.
Another exhibitor keen to highlight their continuing growth is Lemonpath (stand D4), who are now one of the largest contract packers in the Midlands, and are looking at the October London event to promote their services within the capital.
Managing Director at Lemonpath, Chris Antliff, says: “These are very exciting times for Lemonpath and the success of the company is purely down to our philosophy that nothing is too much trouble, everything is achievable and this is reflected in the high profile customer base that we retain and continue to grow.”
Chris also reflects that working alongside the BCMPA and easyFairs has helped contribute to a successful 5 years trading since the company formed in 2006.
Blisters Ltd (stand B10), the contract packaging company based in Somerset will be discussing the huge array of services that they now offer, now that they are expanding their operational base to include such facilities as bottle-sleeving, flow-wrapping and a duty suspended Trade Facility Warehouse approved by HM Revenue and Customs.
Commenting on the CONTRACT PACK feature at the PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London 2011 show, Matt Benyon, Managing Director of easyFairs UK & Ireland, says: “Print and pack design is frequently an integral part of the contract packer’s remit, as are services such as warehousing, pick & pack, supply chain management and distribution. In other words, your contract packer can often provide you with a one-stop-shop solution. At this year’s show we’ve got a fantastic line-up of CONTRACT PACK exhibitors, so whatever your outsourcing packaging need, CONTRACT PACK will provide the answers.”
CONTRACT PACK is one of the main areas to feature at PACKAGING INNOVATIONS London 2011, which also plays host to three other key areas - The Design Village, Luxury Packaging, and Print for Packaging. With over 150 top companies, from across the globe, signed to exhibit, it looks set to be a huge success, and promises to be a real highlight for both London and the packaging industry.
