Dow introduces new experimental LDPE resin for high-class collation shrink films

A world-leading supplier of innovative specialty resins and films solutions for the packaging industry, Dow Europe GmbH (“Dow”) has announced the introduction of a new experimental low density polyethylene resin, primarily developed for the Southern European region. The new XZ 89129.02 Experimental Polyethylene Resin has been specifically designed to address customer’s demand for exceptional stiffness and film resistance in premium collation shrink films used in multipack beverage applications.

“Building on Dow’s track record of successful tailor-made technologies for the collation shrink industry, the new resin offers film converters enhanced processing and downgauging potential, while brand owners may take advantage from excellent packaging stability and high film clarity for high-shelf appeal,” continued Minelli.   

The resin’s excellent stiffness and enhanced tear resistance can allow for thinner films, helping optimize the material’s usage and offering an opportunity for cost savings. During the product’s transport and storage phase, the solution’s high film resistance helps maintain packaging integrity.

Once the product is displayed, XZ 89129.02 Experimental Polyethylene Resin offers excellent see through clarity and sophisticated printability options offering high brand recognition. Overall, the Dow Introduces New Experimental LDPE Resin TM  Trademark of The Dow Chemical Company (“Dow”) or an affiliated company of Dow combination of high mechanical strength, great shrink consistency and optical properties, can deliver well-shaped, high-class packaging.

Designed for the fabrication of coextruded or monolayer shrink films for beverage multipacks, the new resin offers significant design opportunities to film converters for the manufacturing of tailored films structures to better suit specific packaging applications performance needs.

With this innovative experimental resin, Dow expands its product portfolio and offers a competitive high quality solution for secondary packaging in the Southern European region.
