MULTIVAC will be presenting at Fachpack in Nuremberg (25.-27. September 2012) a diverse range of packaging solutions for food, medical items and in-dustrial products. The highlights are two automated end-to-end packaging lines, as well as systems for the packing of sterile medical products.

From its wide range of turnkey, end-to-end packaging lines, MUL-TIVAC will be showing a high-output traysealer line with its twin track T 700 model. The destacking of the trays is carried out by a tray destacker from Carsoe. The MR 821 checkweigher with metal detector from MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection checks the weight and content of the sealed trays. The packaging line is equipped with a H 130 handling module with 4-axis robot for plac-ing the finished tray packs into outer cartons. A palletising system from Trimaster at the end of the line stacks the loaded cartons onto pallets. MULTIVAC acquired the Finnish company in December 2011 and thereby expanded its equipment range in line automation, robotics and palletising systems. "MULTIVAC customers benefit from the advantages of being able to obtain all the line components from one source: full integration of the line modules, the right interfaces, single uniform operator guidance and one person to contact", says Valeska Haux, Marketing Manager at MULTIVAC.
Thermoforming packaging line for industrial products
Memory cards in thermoformed blister packs will be packed on the second automated packaging line, which MULTIVAC will be show-ing at Fachpack. The heart of the line is the high performance R 535 thermoforming packaging machine, which is equipped with a H 240 handling module for loading the pack cavities. The H 240 is also equipped with a MULTIVAC MVS vision system to detect and orientate the pack contents. A printed pre-cut card is loaded into the blister pack by a card loader from Buhmann Systems, before the packs are sealed. The thermoforming packaging machine is also equipped with innovations from MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection, namely the MVS seal seam scanner, which checks the quality of the seal seams during the packaging procedure, and a cross web labeller with printer unit, which dispenses the labels onto the pack immediately after printing and which is therefore specially suited to serialisation and track & trace applications. The blister packs are converged at the end of the line by the H 50 handling module.
Packaging solutions for medical products
MULTIVAC will also be presenting packaging solutions for the medical products sector: the R 145 thermoforming packaging machine is a particularly efficient entry-level machine for the packaging of sterile medical products in small and medium batch sizes. On this machine is installed the MR296 TI direct web printer with the Wolke m600 printing system.
Process reliability and recording capability will also be demon-strated in the case of the C 400 TC, a special chamber machine with temperature controlled sealing bar for sterile medical products. The identification of the individual stages and operators is assured through barcodes and RFID, so that the packaging pro-cedure is constantly monitored, safeguarded and recorded.
Other Exhibits
With its T 100 and T 300 models, the packaging specialist will be showing a semi-automatic and a fully automatic traysealer, which are both designed for small and medium batch sizes. MULTIVAC will also be presenting various chamber machines for packing food in pouches. The MR293TT direct web printer with thermal transfer printing and the MR425 link chain labeller for the front and back labelling of shaped bottles will also be shown from the product range of MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection.
