In 2008, packaging specialist HANS KOLB Wellpappe (corrugated cardboard) and Papierfabrik HANS KOLB (paper) carried out a Move n’ Modernize project with Bellmer. An existing paper machine was moved from Italy to Germany and key new components such as a TURBOJetter with dilution water headbox, a TURBOSizepress and a TURBOReeler were installed at the new site.

Bellmer subsidiary LANG-HAFNER updated the air technology as well as the steam and condensate system. Four years on and the project has proved highly positive for the company. Plant manager Martin Bergner praised Bellmer for its support during and after start-up: “As a medium-sized company Bellmer proved its ability to give personal service and make decisions on the spot. The support we received was both responsive and flexible.” The original production plant was designed for a maximum output of 50,000 tons/year, although it has proved possible to boost this capacity to 62,000 tons/year without further investments. This project with Kolb is further proof that moving used paper machines is a cost-efficient option with Bellmer’s Move n’ Modernize concept.
