Safety in the kitchen
According to the vision of the company it wants consumers to enjoy a healthy world of flavours in a safe and convenient packaging. So the new packaging solution fully reflects the current vision of Van Der Kroon Food Products. Erwin van der Kroon from Export and Innovation explains:
“We introduce a new range to the private consumer in a SuperLock packaging. We call it Dutch Tapas. We are quite convinced that the end-user will appreciate the handy and new plastic packaging that we have chosen for this range. In the first stage, this whole new project will be launched as a market test. To the catering segment we have been selling our pickles in blow moulded plastic containers for some time already. Here, the safety issue plays an important role for obvious reasons; the professional kitchens want to avoid risks at the working place, for example caused by broken glass. Now end-users can have the benefits of plastic, too.”
Design and long shelf life
The two most important features of the packaging are the design of the SuperLock container and the long shelf life that it gives the food products. It was a requirement that 18 months shelf life was guaranteed and after some oxygen barrier tests and trials this could be confirmed.
“We are happy about the results and RPC Superfos has been very professional and helpful throughout our cooperation,” states Erwin Van Der Kroon.
Van Der Kroon Food product has taken full advantage of the many options which In-Mould Labelling provides for: There are decorations right under the rim, matching the ones on the container body and on lid. An important part of the packaging is transparent so that the end users can see the colourful pickles inside.
The packaging helps to communicate
The logo marking the 80th anniversary has found its way to the lid. The packaging acts as an important carrier of information - and a new kind of packaging sends a sign of progress and development to the market.
“The Dutch tapas in the new SuperLock packaging have been very well received at a recent trade fair. Our expectations are quite high, because we got very positive feedback. The trendy design and the handy size have high consumer appeal,” Erwin van der Kroon concludes.
