The year 2016 was very busy for Eurocast. In line with the plans of the Board to assume long-term investments in new, future-oriented technologies, the company has expanded its machine park with two new machines. At the beginning of 2016, it launched the technologically advanced BOBST K5000 metallizer, capable of sputtering aluminium oxide AlOx. In the second half of the year, Eurocast expanded rigid film department with another Luigi Bandera APET production line, which increased its production capacity by 40 per cent.

The purchase of BOBST film laminating and coating machine is a continuation of development directions chosen earlier. The CL 750D model will allow for consistent completion of investments in AlOx technology. The film coated with AlOx by means of the innovative BOBST K5000 metallizer, combined with coating performed on the latest device, will allow Eurocast to offer its customers a complete product with excellent barrier properties. Its customers will be able to discover completely new possibilities in the production of packaging based on the new Eurocast technology. In addition, the new machine will allow further development of the Laminating Department, and a planned increase in the share of laminates in sales.
For years, Eurocast has been offering its customers a wide range of film laminates. The packaging made from its laminates provides perfect protection for the products and allows to provide consumers with a wholesome product. These products have excellent welding properties. Eurocast produces a material with different barrier capacity levels depending on the type and purpose of the packaging, from non-barrier laminates, to standard barrier material, to high barrier films based on AlOx technology. Optionally, Eurocast offers its clients to extend the properties of laminates with peel / seal, anti-fog and metallization.
Its laminates are suitable for lidding films, stand-up pouches, flow packs, doypacks. The applications are fresh food products (meat, cheese, fish, fruits and vegetables), pasteurized products, toiletries and pet food.
Eurocast specializes in the production of Sterifol, a high quality, multi-layer film laminate for medical and sterile cosmetic packaging. Sterifol has excellent weldability properties and very high mechanical durability. This product has been gaining more and more interest among our customers. Many of them notice this packaging material for its excellent quality properties, but also a chance for a lot of savings.
Last year the company's Sales Department teamed up with one of the leaders in the medical packaging industry. Eurocast's prerequisites were to meet its controlled and strictly compliant quality standards and to demonstrate savings on a single packaging. In the offer presented, it proposed a unique solution based on a special type of CPP film designed for the production of medical packaging intended for the sterilization process. Thanks to its solution, the customer could reduce the total thickness of the laminate used and introduce a more economical packaging while improving the quality of the packaging. Its joint calculations showed that the customer was able to save on the cost of manufacturing the packaging for medical equipment sterilization by about five per cent.
Production of laminates is becoming an increasingly important branch of our business year by year, and the sales of this product group maintain a consistent high level.
"Flexible laminates are the fastest growing product group in the Eurocast range. We have been recording annual sales growth of about 100%. We are planning to expand our sales in European markets and this would not have been possible without the investment in the BOBST CL 750D laminator," says Tomasz Mally, Commercial Director of the Company.
"With this machine, not only have we strengthened our position in the Polish market, but above all we will be able to offer new products abroad. This device will allow us to improve the quality of our products, increase our product portfolio by introducing high barrier laminates and, in the future, the sale of lacquered materials. We can see great opportunities for development, gaining new markets and new customers, which has been possible thanks to the work we have done over the past three years," adds T. Mally.
With the advent of new acquisitions at the beginning of the second quarter of 2017, Eurocast will complete the next phase of investment in its development plans. The company is still going to continue its development, as evidenced by the decision to make one of the largest investments in the company’s history. Details will be announced at a later date.
