[**Cano Water**](https://canowater.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) **has announced plans to introduce its US aluminium bottle format to the UK market, with its 473ml still water bottle launching in select** [**Waitrose**](https://www.waitrose.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) **stores starting this month.**

Cano states it has secured listings with Waitrose and foodservice wholesaler Brakes. Weighing 24g, the bottle format is said to be 60% lighter than comparable aluminium bottles weighing over 60g.

The bottle also features a wider opening for a ‘smooth drinking experience’ and is designed to be refilled.

Josh White, CEO and co-founder of Cano Water, commented:

“We’ve been working to bring this bottle to the UK for more than five years, so seeing it finally happen with Waitrose is a huge moment for us. We’ve always been passionate about pushing aluminium packaging forward, and we’re excited to give consumers another option.”

In related news, in May this year the Italian Aluminium Packaging Consortium [CIAL](https://www.cial.it/en?ref=packagingeurope.com) reported that Italy had [exceeded European targets](https://www.packagingeurope.com/italy-reaches-928-recycling-rate-for-aluminium-beverage-cans/) with a 69.5% recycling rate for aluminium packaging, highlighting that beverage cans reached a 92.8% rate in 2025\. The Consortium also reported an overall recovery rate of 72.9%.

In other beverage packaging news, [ALPLA](https://www.alpla.com/en?ref=packagingeurope.com) and [CCL Label](https://ccllabel.com/en?ref=packagingeurope.com) have [partnered](https://www.packagingeurope.com/pet-beverage-can-with-ecofloat-sleeve-revealed-by-alpla-and-ccl-label/) to develop a stackable, recyclable PET beverage can with a full-body shrink sleeve. The companies say it can be integrated into existing PET filling lines and is designed as a ‘quickly scalable’ alternative to aluminium cans.
