[**IMA**](https://ima.it/en/?ref=packagingeurope.com) **has announced its acquisition of** [**OMAS Tecnosistemi**](https://www.omastecnosistemi.it/?ref=packagingeurope.com)**, a supplier of high-tech customized solutions in the cosmetics, make-up and personal care sectors.**

The agreement provides for the purchase of a majority of OMAS’s shares, held by its manager Savino Giudici.

Luigi Giudici founded OMG, a mechanical workshop specializing in the production of contract dosing systems for installation on automatic filling machines, in 1973\. Savino Giudici then founded OMAS Tecnosistemi in 1987, which was transformed into a supplier of high-tech customized solutions.

Today the company, located in Cerro Maggiore, Milan, specializes in solutions for fully automatic filling and capping lines for the cosmetics, make-up, personal care and pharmaceutical industries. Its range of machines was already included product preparation, cleaning, bottle and cap orientation, handling and filling, but the secondary packaging part of a complete line down to the pallet was missing.

IMA says this was where the two companies combined to become the “one-stop partner” in the cosmetics, make-up and personal care sectors, for filling and packaging lines of all kinds.

In 2023, [Wild](https://www.wearewild.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) and [Morrama](https://www.morrama.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) packaged liquid cosmetics in [aluminum casing and bamboo-based refills](https://packagingeurope.com/wild-and-morrama-package-liquid-cosmetics-in-aluminium-casing-and-bamboo-based-refills/10157.article?ref=packagingeurope.com). Morrama developed a new refillable bottle – and refills claimed to be 100% plastic-free and compostable – for Wild’s liquid cosmetics in a bid to drive down single-use plastic waste.

We took a broader look at the issue of [reuse and refill](https://packagingeurope.com/reuse-and-refill-focus-on-cosmetics/10964.article?ref=packagingeurope.com) in cosmetics and personal care, seeing how the sector reacted following the [European’s Commission](https://commission.europa.eu/index%5Fen?ref=packagingeurope.com)’s [announced revisions](https://packagingeurope.com/news/eu-proposes-ambitious-new-packaging-sustainability-targets-but-backs-down-on-reuse/9149.article?ref=packagingeurope.com) of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive – and [WWF](https://support.wwf.org.uk/?ref=packagingeurope.com)’s position paper including a framework for reuse systems.
