[**Sun Chemical**](https://www.sunchemical.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) **has launched its SolarFlex FSP UV flexographic ink range as a food-safe, low-migration and high-quality solution for label and packaging manufacturers.**

Reportedly, this formulation offers low odour, excellent printability, low viscosity, and fast curing. This is expected to minimize the risk of migration, flavour transfer and odour contamination – all while meeting high print speed and productivity requirements in the label and packaging sectors.

Suitable for labels, sleeves and packaging, the inks comply with the requirements of the German Ink Ordinance (GIO) and Swiss Ink Ordinance (SIO) through selected raw materials and low migration performance.

The lineup is available in standard and intense four-colour, expanded colour gamut process inks, and high-strength mono-pigmented blending colours. It is set to help label and packaging manufacturers unlock a wide spectrum of brand colours and packaging requirements.

So far, the range has undergone successful trials and validations – including migration testing and odour assessments at printing speeds above 200 meters per minute – with label and packaging customers across Europe.

Sun Chemical anticipates that its SolarFlex FSP UV inks will offer migration-compliant solutions, helping customers in the labels and packaging industries prepare for existing and future regulatory requirements.

“Packaging regulations continue to evolve across Europe, creating new challenges for manufacturers and brand owners,” says Jonathan Sexton, product manager, Energy Curing at Sun Chemical. “Our next-generation SolarFlex FSP inks have been developed to help customers remain compliant without compromising performance and output.

“The upgraded formulation fully meets increasingly strict regulations and enables packaging manufacturers and brand owners to achieve their sustainability objectives.”

The news comes after the [recent reveal](https://www.packagingeurope.com/sun-chemical-unveils-direct-food-contact-ink-and-water-based-green-pigment/) of Sun Chemical’s SunPak DFC inPace lineup of direct food contact sheetfed ink for folding carton, alongside a new food-compliant green pigment for its water-based ink portfolio.

In another development, [Living Ink Technologies](https://www.livingink.co/?ref=packagingeurope.com)’ black pigment made from agrifood waste has been [nominated](https://www.packagingeurope.com/sustainability-awards-finalist-interview-living-inks-renewable-black-pigment/) for a [Sustainability Award](https://thesustainabilityawards.com/live/en/page/home?ref=packagingeurope.com) under the Start-Up New Materials category.
