[**PAC Strapping Products**](https://strapsolutions.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) **has unveiled a pallet strapping system with automatic corner board applicators, expecting to reduce manual labour and boost efficiency in high-throughput shipping operations.**

The PSS733 system intends to serve as a lower-cost alternative that simplifies maintenance, cuts down on potential points of failure, and avoids the expense and complications of servo-driven robotic systems.

Instead of complex robotic automation, the system operates on cylinders and actuators in a mechanical, pneumatic design. Using automated applicators, it places protective corner boards across the vertical or horizontal edges of palletized products prior to the strapping cycle.

Integrated load detection sensors automatically trigger corner board placement only when a pallet is present. Alignment sensors also verify proper board positioning before the strapping cycle starts to improve packaging consistency and avoid material waste.

Reinforcing pallet corners and edges is expected to prevent pallets from being crushed, splintered, dented, or damaged by compression during handling, stacking and transportation. It is also hoped to help distribute strap tension evenly across the load and maintain package integrity.

After applying the corner boards, the machine automatically tensions and seals straps around the load. The combination of corner boards and strapping is set to prevent shifting or toppling during transit.

Automating this process is anticipated to avoid labour-intensive hand application, improving throughput while delivering more consistent results between pallets. Precise corner board positioning and uniform strap tension are also set to improve containment strength and reduce the risks of improperly secured loads.

PSS733 is recommendedfor palletized products that require consistent load containment and edge protection, and is anticipated to overcome common packaging and shipping challenges that come with manual pallet protection methods.

The standard system is intended for seamless integration into automated conveyor systems and high-throughput packaging lines. Depending on facility layout and space constraints, it can also be retrofitted into existing automated lines to unlock additional flexibility.

In other news, [FlexLink](https://www.flexlink.com/en?ref=packagingeurope.com)’s RC20 is a compact, standardized [collaborative palletizing cell](https://www.packagingeurope.com/compact-collaborative-palletizer-designed-for-heavy-cases-in-limited-space/) designed to handle heavier cases and high-throughput applications in industries such as food and pharmaceuticals. With a maximum pallet height of 2.4 meters, it reportedly reaches payloads up to 17kg and a throughput of up to six boxes per minute – or twelve with a double pick.

[E2Pack](https://e2pack.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) has also revealed its EASYROCK [automatic pallet unwrapping system](https://www.packagingeurope.com/e2pack-introduces-automatic-pallet-unwrapping-system/). The new system is designed to handle ‘dozens’ of pallets per hour while minimizing interruptions and supporting continuity in high-throughput manufacturing settings.
