**Circular economy specialist** [**Reconomy**](https://www.reconomy.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) **has announced its acquisition of** [**Lincoln Waste Solutions LLC**](https://lincolnwaste.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com)**, a US-based waste and recycling management and consulting firm.**

Headquartered in Windsor, Connecticut, Lincoln apparently provides a ‘full-service’ management approach to waste and recycling such as waste consulting, hauler management and back office support. The company has serviced clients across the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, including multi-location, regional, national and Fortune 500 companies across a variety of industries.

The transaction is Reconomy’s first US-based acquisition, said to provide it with a platform to accelerate growth in North America. Through its [RLG](https://rev-log.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) brand, Reconomy already provides the technology that powers the common collection scheme for kerbside recycling in Ontario, Canada.

The acquisition follows several recent UK and international acquisitions, including [Circle Waste](https://www.circlewaste.co.uk/?ref=packagingeurope.com) and [Sudamin Rohstoff](https://www.sudamin-rohstoff.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) this year.

Guy Wakeley, chief executive officer of Reconomy, stated: “The US market has long been of strategic importance to us, and acquiring Lincoln enables us to accelerate our growth plans in this region and expand our international footprint. We are excited to welcome the Lincoln team into the Reconomy family and look forward to working with them to pursue our joint mission of enabling the circular economy.”

John Ayvas, chief executive officer of Lincoln Waste Solutions LLC, said: “We are delighted to be joining Reconomy. Our shared values of being collaborative, inventive and real allow us to provide the highest quality service to help customers more effectively manage their waste and reduce costs.”

In similar news, [Renewi](https://www.renewi.com/en/?ref=packagingeurope.com) and [Freepoint Eco-Systems](https://freepointecosystems.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) announced a [long-term partnership](https://packagingeurope.com/news/renewi-and-freepoint-eco-systems-to-build-new-waste-plastic-sorting-and-treatment-infrastructure/11655.article?ref=packagingeurope.com) last month, which aims to produce feedstock for the advanced recycling of waste plastics. The goal is to supply 80,000 tonnes of feedstock for Freepoint Eco-Systems’ first European advanced recycling facility to be located at the Kluizendok site in Ghent, Belgium.

More recently, [CARBIOS](http://www.carbios.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com) and recycling and waste management company [FCC Environment UK](https://www.fccenvironment.co.uk/?ref=packagingeurope.com) signed a [Letter of Intent](https://packagingeurope.com/news/carbios-and-fcc-environment-collaborate-on-uk-based-pet-biorecycling-facility/11700.article?ref=packagingeurope.com) (LOI) to study the implementation of a UK based plant, using CARBIOS’ PET biorecycling technology. The depolymerization process developed by CARBIOS facilitates the recycling of all kinds of PET waste, including problematic fractions such as polyester textiles, into high-quality recycled PET.
