[**Südpack**](https://www.suedpack.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com)**’s Competence Center for flexo printing in Kłobuck, Poland, has invested in a high-performance flexo print system.**

The new printing system is designed to handle a wide variety of flexible packaging materials for the food industry as well as non-food products, aiming to offer maximum flexibility and efficiency, extensive digital capabilities, and improved ergonomics for employees.

The star-shaped configuration of the printing units, combined with the high-precision mounting of the printing-unit shafts, is designed for optimum print quality. According to Südpack, it’s even suitable for complex jobs - designed for extra-wide webs, long repeat lengths, and high speeds, the new machine enables them to process large print runs quickly, flexibly, and efficiently.

At the same time, fast changeovers have the potential to make even short runs economically viable. The optimized workflow is designed to shorten lead times from the pre-press stage through to the finished product. Südpack reports it gives them the flexibility to respond to short-notice customer requests and handle both small and large print runs.

Südpack also shares that the machine is Industry 4.0-ready: connectivity with IoT and ERP systems facilitates data sharing and provides a foundation for workflow optimization.

Two integrated, independent high-speed robots enable fully automated job changeovers. With the printing machine still running, the cylinders for up to four subsequent orders can be set up in advance. RFID identification helps the printing specialists match carrier cylinders, anilox rolls, and sleeves correctly. Operators also benefit from easier, safer, and more ergonomic manual sleeve changes – Südpack reports there is no need to lift heavy adapters, and intuitive guidance is provided throughout the process.

With this investment, Südpack systematically aims to advance the automation and digitization of its processes. Operations can potentially be more secure and transparent, while also creating more room for value-added activities.

In this way, the company strives to strengthen its ability to provide customers in Europe with high-quality printed packaging solutions even more quickly and flexibly in the future.
