**The company's new ice cream packaging solution is made from up to 85% paper from FSC™-certified forests and other controlled sources.**

[Tetra Pak](https://www.tetrapak.com/?ref=packagingeurope.com)'s wrapping solution has been designed to fit the practical realities of ice cream manufacturing. Its thin profile and “advanced” multi-layer structure help protect products while using materials efficiently and supporting reliable operations. At 53 GSM, the profile of Tetra Pak® Ice Cream Wrap is reportedly up to 50% thinner than selected paper-based alternatives.

Product protection is enabled through the layers of Tetra Pak® Ice Cream Wrap. It is made from up to 85% paper with a paper-based barrier and other protective layers. The remaining materials include polymer, ink and lacquer, components and layers developed to support package performance and efficient material use.

The new development comes as consumer expectations continue to evolve. According to an Innova Lifestyle & Attitudes Survey 2024 and Innova Packaging Survey 2024, nearly a quarter (24%) of consumers globally consider sustainability an important aspect of ice cream packaging, while 16% prefer paper packaging for the category.

The solution sets out to expand the packaging choices available to ice cream producers, helping brands stand out on shelf while delivering the performance needed throughout the cold chain. It is currently undergoing validation with ice cream producers across Europe, including Swedish company Triumf Glass. These trials are designed to help Tetra Pak assess performance in live production environments and gather consumer insights ahead of wider commercialisation.

The company plans to introduce the solution through a phased rollout in Q4 2026, beginning in Europe before expanding to additional markets over time.
